A 159’9 foot yacht originally constructed by Codesca Yachts in 1997, Cyan featured traditional interiors with elaborate wood paneling and textiles. In 2008 the new owners wished to update the yacht with minimal changes. First impressions of Cyan were dark, dominated by low, paneled ceilings and mahogany clad walls. The original conditions emphasized an intuitive directive toward engaging a fresh, invigorating palette.

The refit concept included replacing ceilings and floors with light oak, an interior extension of exterior teak decks. This fluid continuity dissolves thresholds and breathes a light texture and sensitivity to the interiors, reinforced by similarly finished millwork pieces. Custom furniture and a reworking of the plans further optimized a fundamental objective to evoke flow and a lighter sensibility.

The main deck palette is progressively lighter from entry to living spaces, a crescendo of bright foregrounds upon brunette surfaces. The charismatic original mahogany corridor flooring that liaised aft and fore was reflected with a new mahogany ceiling. This circulation is redefined in rich contrast to the luminous living spaces at one end and the vibrant flaxen blue master suite at the other.

A bridge deck salon accommodates an informal lounge, bar, music room, games room and media room. A lyrical palette elegantly modernizes and unites program and ambiance with a contemporary design. Light oak flooring and ceiling surfaces are balanced with whimsical articulations such as resin millwork surfaces that compliment the existing mahogany walls. The upper deck program includes a gym and outdoor lounge, dining room, cinema and Jacuzzi. Custom Corian exterior furniture with woven bases conjures African persuasions and engages light in lyrical animation. Here textiles, materials and accessories resonate with the interiors below in harmony with panoramic views.

A calibrated movement of sophisticated materials, textiles and textures and their select positioning unites a unique contemporary revitalization of the Cyan’s distinguished posture.
